How to choose your own domain for your wedding website

How do you pick the name for your wedding website address? Patterns that work, what to avoid, and how it looks printed on the invitation.

We build wedding websites as a two-person team - combining design and technology so you can focus on planning your big day.

How to choose your own domain for your wedding website

Your own domain is the cherry on top of your wedding website. Instead of a link like "weddingplatform.com/user/12345", you get something clean like anna-and-jan.naszwielkidzien.pl - easy to type from memory, easy to print on an invitation, easy to read out over the phone.

How it works with us

You choose the first part of the address yourself. That part is yours and nobody else has it. The rest of the address, the naszwielkidzien.pl part, stays ours. Put together, it looks like this:

  • ·anna-and-jan.naszwielkidzien.pl
  • ·thesmiths2027.naszwielkidzien.pl
  • ·zofia-and-michael.naszwielkidzien.pl

The address is part of the package, along with a year of keeping the site online. You do not need to register anything yourself or set up anything technical - tell us the name you want at the front and we do the rest.

Why your own address matters

  • ·It looks serious. Anna-and-jan reads better than a string of digits after a slash.
  • ·It is easy to remember. A guest who has mislaid the invitation can type it from memory.
  • ·It prints well. A short address sits nicely under the QR code for anyone who does not scan.
  • ·It is yours alone. Nobody else has that name.

How to pick the name

Patterns that work:

  • ·anna-and-jan - the classic, two names with a hyphen
  • ·thesmiths or thesmiths2027 - the surname front and centre
  • ·anna-and-jan-wedding - unambiguous when the names are common

A few practical tips:

  • ·Use hyphens rather than running words together - anna-and-jan beats annaandjan
  • ·Avoid accented letters - write names without them
  • ·Keep it short - the shorter the name, the easier it is to type on a small keyboard
  • ·Watch out for surnames that get misspelled - if yours has two plausible spellings, use first names

What to avoid

  • ·Jokes that age in a month. The address goes on the invitation and stays with you for the year.
  • ·Numbers that need explaining. A date written 12062027 looks like a typo.
  • ·Very long names. The longer the address, the more chances to get it wrong.

Putting the address on the invitation

Best alongside the QR code: the code for most guests, the address in small type underneath for anyone who prefers to type it or open it on a computer. More about the code itself in our piece on a wedding website with a QR code.

Your domain with the Nasz Wielki Dzień package

Your own domain and a year of keeping the site online are included in the price. There is no surcharge for the address and no separate invoice partway through the year.
