A wedding website or a Canva template - which do you need?
You are planning a wedding and looking for a way to invite people. Two options come up again and again: a wedding website built for you, or something you put together yourself in Canva. Both have their place. They differ roughly the way a restaurant differs from a vending machine: both will feed you, but the evening is not the same.
Canva: quick, pretty, and flat
Canva is a genuinely good design tool. You can make a beautiful invitation as a PDF or an image and send it to everyone in an afternoon.
The catch is that it stays a file. There is no RSVP form, no map, no countdown. A guest opens the image, reads the date, and that is where it ends. Everything after that goes back to phone calls and messages.
That matters more than it first sounds. The invitation is only the first five minutes of the job. The next six months are questions, and a file cannot answer a single one of them.
A wedding website: the whole thing
A wedding website is not a picture, it is a small site of your own. Guests confirm they are coming, check the order of the day, open a map with directions, look through your photographs and send you song requests. All of it lives at your own address, something like anna-and-mark.naszwielkidzien.pl.

That last row is the one couples underestimate. Something always changes: a start time, a shuttle bus, a venue that renames its car park. With a file, a change means sending a second file and hoping everyone opens the right one, which some of them will not. With a website you edit the page, and from that moment everyone sees the new version.
English-language Canva templates: one specific warning
Canva's wedding templates are mostly written for American weddings, and the wording gives it away. "Reception to follow", "black tie optional", "registry" - phrases that either mean nothing to guests in Poland or mean something slightly different from what you intend.
If your wedding is in Poland and most of your guests are Polish, a template written for a wedding in Texas needs more rewriting than it looks like it does, and the parts you cannot rewrite are the ones built into the design.
It cuts the other way too. A template will not explain to your guests from abroad what a poprawiny is, that the reception genuinely runs until four in the morning, or that the church and the venue are forty minutes apart. Those are exactly the things a couple ends up explaining by hand, one guest at a time, when the invitation is a picture.
When Canva is the right answer
Canva is excellent for the extras. A save-the-date graphic for Instagram, an image for the group chat, artwork for the envelopes, a sign for the welcome table. You can also design the printed invitation itself there and drop in the QR code that points at your website - the two are not rivals. One handles the paper, the other handles the logistics.
When you want a website
If you want RSVPs collected without chasing anyone, every practical detail in one place, an address rather than an attachment, and the freedom to change in March something you decided in January, then a website is what you are actually looking for.
The short version
Canva makes graphics. A wedding website runs the wedding. If you want to send a nice picture, open Canva. If you want something that keeps working for you for the next six months, have a look at our themes or see what it costs.
