Onyx Gold

Black, Paper and Gold, Full of Glamour

Evening glamour: your photo in a double gold frame, a flip-through menu card and alternating bands of black and paper white.

About the theme

Black and paper, running in alternating bands

Onyx Gold opens on a screen split in two: your photo on one side in a finely worked gold frame, a paper column with your names and date on the other. From there the page moves in alternating bands - a light countdown strip, a dark menu card with five courses, a directions section with a dark transport card, RSVP on black, and a closing section.

Gold lines and thin dividers guide the eye, and the text reads like an invitation from a stationer's, just on screen. Inside: a countdown to the ceremony, an order of the day with the dinner picked out, a two-column menu card, two venue cards with maps, a separate coach transport card, a note asking for envelopes instead of flowers, a song request playlist guests vote on, and a shared gallery on its own page where guests can add their own photos.

The effect sits closer to embossed stationery than a typical wedding website - evening, strongly graphic, and hard to mistake for anything else.

Who it suits

Is this theme for you?

It's a good fit if

  • The reception is an evening one, with a dress code and a clear formal part.
  • You want the contrast of black and gold rather than pastel softness.
  • You want the menu and the evening's programme to look like a card from an elegant restaurant.

Colours and fonts

Four colours and two fonts

Paper

#FAF6F0

Bright bands on the page. A creamy white with texture, not a cold screen white.

Onyx

#111111

Dark bands: the menu card, transport and RSVP. The contrast that gives the page its rhythm.

Gold

#C9A96E

Finely worked frames, dividers and digits. Without it, all that's left is black and paper.

Ink

#1A1A1A

Body copy on the bright bands. Deep, but never absolute black.

Headings

Cormorant Garamond

Cormorant Garamond keeps a classic tone for headings, set between the gold lines.

Body text

Jost

Jost reads just as well on black as it does on the paper bands.

Guide

Onyx Gold and your reception

Black and paper, in alternating bands

The first screen splits in two: your photo in a finely worked gold frame on one side, a paper column with your names and the date on the other. From there the page pulses on - a bright countdown strip, a dark menu card, a directions section, RSVP on black. Gold lines lead the eye through each band and never let it lose its place. The effect is evening and strongly graphic, closer to embossed stationery than a typical wedding page. If your reception has a dress code, live music and dinner at a set time, the invitation should say so upfront - and here, it does.

A menu card across five courses

The menu gets five courses here - starter, soup, main, dessert and late-night snacks - set out in two columns, like a card in a restaurant. A guest browses it a week before the wedding, and only then does their dietary answer become something specific, giving you numbers you can hand to the venue without a last-minute correction. Vegan and gluten-free markers sit next to the dish names. If the venue settles the menu late, we can add this one section afterwards, without touching the rest of the page and at no extra cost.

Directions, the coach and accommodation, all in one place

The dark transport card gathers everything to do with getting there and back: the pick-up point, departure time, return runs, and whether the coach is for everyone or just for those staying over. Alongside it sits a list of accommodation options with the distance to the venue. For guests it's one place instead of three separate messages; for you, a quiet phone in the last week before the wedding - the one week you have the least time to spare. Coach bookings are collected together with RSVP, so you know the numbers before you ever call the coach company.
